Sunshine and lemonade ~ a BOYs lemonade stand birthday party!

My littlest guy just turned ONE. I have noooo idea how that happened. He was born. I blinked. He turned one. It’s insane. Time really does go by faster and faster the older you get, it’s so unfair. What an amazing year it was, not without its hard times of course, but overall this baby is just the sweetest chunk of love I know. He completes our family in the most perfect way. I had a really hard time deciding what theme to do his party. I’ve always loved the lemonade stand parties I saw all over pinterest, but you always see those for girls – pink lemonade. I toyed with ditching the lemonade theme and doing something else, but I wanted to do it so bad that I decided to put my own spin on it. I did find a few others who did it and spun off of their ideas, combining a ‘You are my sunshine’ and lemonade stand theme together, to be Sunshine and Lemonade. I had SO much fun with this party, I’m so glad I went with the theme I really wanted 🙂 And now I have proven that you can do a little boy’s lemonade stand birthday party too!boy lemonade stand partyMy husband totally blew me away with this lemonade stand he made out of old pallets. It exceeded my wishes by far! I got pinwheels off etsy, found printables for the drink tags on pinterest, and used old and new mason jars for the drinks and decorations. The lids on the drink jars were from amazon. Lemons were an easy and obvious addition to the decorations 😉boys lemonade stand partyThe straws and bowl were from home goods and the lemonade dispenser was from Zulily. I had the crates from newborn props, and the basket with the cookies was something I had in the kitchen. The cookie favors were Annie’s Eats lemon and vanilla bean white sugar cookies (slightly modified) with Alton Brown’s royal icing.boy lemonade partyIt was pretty windy so you can’t see all the photos here, but I printed out 4 photos plus his monthly sock monkey photo for each month of the first year and strung them up here. I had done something similar for Jameson’s first birthday, only I hung the strings all over instead of in one spot. I made chocolate cupcakes, but also this lemonade cake.lemonade stand cake smash picturesAnd of course the birthday boy got an extra large chocolate cupcake for a cake smash! We did a cake smash on his actual birthday too, but I couldn’t resist letting him go at it again, especially in front of the lemonade stand 😉 It made for such a cute backdrop!lemonade cake smashlemonade stand cake smashHe’s a big fan of food, but especially cake  now too 😉 Overall it was just such a fun party, and it all went off so great! Happy birthday sweet boy, love you forever.
